I need a me!

Well here I am. It’s been a few weeks since I built my website and wrote my first blog post, and I haven’t promoted either of them on social media! Eeeesh, not a great example of how to successfully market your business, which is slightly awkward when that’s the service you’re offering to other businesses.

In my defence, the reason I haven’t marketed my own business yet is that I’ve been too busy supporting my existing clients and spending time with my family. That means my days start with hustling a cheeky toddler out of the house to nursery before the rest of it is filled with planning posts, creating content, developing advertising campaigns and running reports to support the growth of my clients’ businesses. Then my evenings are filled with bedtime routines, tidying up after the toddler tornado, talking to another adult (aka my amazing partner, Kieran) and picking up whatever work I haven’t quite finished during the day.

That doesn’t leave a huge amount of time to focus on my own promotion but it is important. Social media and a digital presence is like a shop front. It’s often the first thing potential customers see about you and if your presence is hard to find or is completely empty of content then it doesn’t create a great first impression.

It also means you won’t really have any hope of expanding as you’re too caught up in the day to day activity involved in running a business, which places limitations on what you can achieve. Not an ideal place to be.

So I’ve made a commitment to myself to do one thing each week to promote my business and this is the first step.

If you’re in a similar position to me, where your day to day business operations mean you can’t promote yourself and therefore can’t expand then get in touch. I can, not only sympathise, but I can also help in a variety of different forms from managing your marketing activities to offering simple consultation.
